Vinted Shoppers Voice Frustration Over Size Changes
Members of the platform have expressed outrage following a change that caused listings displaying inaccurate size information.
This online marketplace has updated its measurement guidelines for women's and children's clothes failing to inform all users about the change.
Digital Channels Backlash
Countless users and merchants are expressing on platforms saying Vinted listings now show a different size category versus the original listing as a result of the reclassification.
Vinted explained the updated approach better aligns with comparable marketplaces.
The platform has recommended to examine their items and adjust the sizing manually when needed, causing user dissatisfaction.
Sizing System Changes
Before the change, the sizes had both numerical and alphabetical indicators, such as S/8 or M/10.
The new system has a letter and a range such as S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the measurements have been reclassified - like an L measurement used to be a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
Shopper Experiences
A fashion influencer, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
Stephanie Gallen, from Glasgow, said garments she listed on Vinted with size 14 labels were showing in the marketplace as size 20–22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they're going to be very disappointed," she explained.
Required Changes
Charlotte Lunn, located in England, said she had been left angered due to the update requiring manual adjustment the measurements for "each individual item".
"This situation is especially annoying, because of my ongoing medical condition and selling on Vinted has been paramount after experiencing income reduction," she stated.
Service Background
The app has more than 100 million users, with 18 million British users.
It has proved a popular alternative to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion when a surprising modification to the app has proved unpopular: last year, Vinted reversed a change to its shipping options after backlash from users.
